📜 Historical Background

Lin Feng Martyr Memorial Hall was established to honor Lin Feng, a revolutionary martyr who sacrificed his life during the War of Resistance against Japan. Born in 1918 as Lin Zhengxiang, Lin Feng hailed from Zhongxiangkou Village in Yuyao. Early in his life, he dedicated himself to the revolutionary cause and served as political instructor of the guerrilla detachment of the Zhe Dong Anti-Japanese Base Area. In the battle at Dayan, Fung County, in 1942, he heroically gave his life to cover the retreat of his comrades, dying at just 24 years old. His heroic deeds are recorded in the "List of Revolutionary Martyrs of Zhejiang" and he stands as a significant symbol of red culture in the Zhe Dong region.

🏘️ Architecture and Layout

The memorial hall is built into the hillside, covering an area of approximately 600 square meters, designed in the traditional style of southern Chinese residential architecture—featuring blue bricks, gray tiles, and horse-head gables. The overall atmosphere is solemn and dignified. The main structure consists of two courtyards. The front hall houses exhibition spaces, while the rear hall serves as a display room for the martyr’s personal belongings and a space for memorial rituals. In the courtyard stands a bronze statue of Comrade Lin Feng, with the inscription “Eternal Heroic Spirit” engraved on its base, written by Tan Qilong, former political commissar of the New Fourth Army Zhe Dong Column.

🖼️ Cultural Relics and Exhibits

The museum houses over 70 valuable artifacts and historical materials, including:

  • Military uniform, notebook, and handwritten letters used by Lin Feng during his lifetime
  • Original operational maps of the Zhe Dong guerrilla units during the War of Resistance
  • Certificate of martyr status issued by the New Fourth Army Zhe Dong Office
  • Multiple vintage photographs and battlefield artworks

Exhibits are organized around three thematic sections: “The Path of Faith,” “Years of Flames,” and “Enduring Spirit.” Through a combination of text and images, multimedia interactive installations, and physical displays, the exhibition vividly portrays the brief yet brilliant life of Lin Feng.

🌟 Cultural Significance

Lin Feng Martyr Memorial Hall is one of China’s national bases for patriotic education and a key cultural heritage site under provincial protection in Zhejiang Province. It serves not only as a place to commemorate fallen heroes but also as a vital repository of historical memory from the Zhe Dong resistance era, playing a profound role in preserving revolutionary traditions and promoting the spirit of sacrifice.
