๐ Park Overview
Huangfu Mountain National Forest Park is a national-level forest park, covering an area of approximately 120 square kilometers, renowned for its fusion of forest ecology and cultural history. The park is lush with trees, high in negative oxygen ions, and hailed as the "Green Lung of East Anhui." Its core area is the site of the Ming Dynasty Huangfu family tombs, which combines natural landscapes with a profound historical and cultural heritage.
๐บ Historical Background
Huangfu Mountain was originally known as "Daliushan," named after the famous Tang Dynasty litterateur and thinker Huangfu Ji (also known as "Chizheng"). According to the "New Book of Tang," Huangfu Ji was a student of Han Yu, known for his robust style and advocacy of "writing to clarify the way," which had a profound impact on the ancient prose movement of the mid-Tang Dynasty. In later generations, to commemorate his virtue and knowledge, the mountain was renamed "Huangfu Mountain." Starting in the Ming Dynasty, the Huangfu family built ancestral halls and tombs here, forming a massive family tomb complex. There are over a dozen tombstones from the Ming and Qing dynasties, which hold significant historical and calligraphic value.
๐ Cultural Heritage
- Huangfu Family Ancestral Temple Ruins: The remains include stone bases, broken columns, and some tombstones. The architectural style is in the Ming official style, reflecting the characteristics of southern Chinese ancestral temples.
- Huangfu Ji's Tomb: Located on the west side of the main peak, the tomb mound is well-preserved, with a tablet inscribed during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty.
- Rock Carvings Group: Distributed on the rock walls along the mountain, the content is mostly poems and odes, with the works of Qing Dynasty literati being particularly outstanding, holding high artistic and documentary value.
๐ฟ Natural Features
The park has a vegetation coverage rate exceeding 95%, belonging to the subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest belt, with main tree species including camphor, sweetgum, and Huangshan pine. Rare species such as wild ginkgo and Chinese yew are scattered throughout the mountains. The streams in the mountains wind through, featuring natural wonders like "Three Pools Reflecting the Moon" and "Falling Water Washing Jade."
