Bailing Museum, Dacheng County 🏛️

📍 Address: No. 1 Yongding Street, Dacheng County, Langfang City, Hebei Province

📜 Historical Background

Established in 2018 and officially approved by the Hebei Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, Bailing Museum is a non-state-owned comprehensive museum. It originated as the private collection of renowned folk collector Mr. Zhang Baili, who spent over a decade systematically organizing and researching his extensive holdings. In 2018, the collection was formally opened to the public, becoming one of Dacheng County’s prominent cultural landmarks.

🏗️ Architectural Style

The museum features a modern Chinese architectural style, blending traditional northern courtyard layouts with contemporary minimalist design. The main structure is a two-story brick-wood building with blue-tiled roofs and upturned eaves. Ancient cypress trees and crabapple blossoms grace the courtyard, creating an atmosphere of "tranquility amidst the urban bustle." Inside, the museum includes permanent exhibition halls, temporary exhibition spaces, a cultural relic restoration studio, and educational learning areas—offering a well-organized, fully functional layout.

🖼️ Highlights of the Collection

With over 3,000 artifacts in its collection, the museum showcases items spanning Ming and Qing dynasty ceramics, Republican-era paintings and calligraphy, ancient furniture, and local folk artifacts. Notable highlights include late-Qing imperial kiln famille-rose porcelain plates, original manuscripts by renowned artists from the Beijing-Tianjin school during the Republic era, and traditional wedding ritual objects unique to Dacheng County. Some pieces have been included in the Hebei Province List of Outstanding Collections from Non-State-Owned Museums.

🌟 Cultural Significance

As the first privately operated museum in the county, Bailing Museum is dedicated to "bringing cultural relics to life," regularly hosting themed exhibitions such as "Local Heritage Memories" and "Intangible Cultural Heritage Preservation." It serves as a model for documenting regional cultural roots and standardizing private collections, earning recognition as a "Top Non-State-Owned Museum in Hebei Province."
