Sipu Revolutionary Old District Memorial Garden

🏛️ Historical Background

The Sipu Revolutionary Old District Memorial Garden was established to commemorate the revolutionary struggles carried out in Simao (now Pu'er) and Pu'er areas from 1925 to 1949. This region was one of the important birthplaces of the revolution in southern Yunnan, and a group of revolutionary pioneers emerged, represented by Li Jianyao and Zhang Wenbin. In 1948, the Sipu Temporary Committee of the Communist Party of China was established here, organizing the masses to engage in armed struggle and making significant contributions to the liberation of Yunnan.

The memorial garden is situated by the Meizi Lake, covering an area of about 30 acres, with an overall layout of "memorial axis + ecological landscape." The main buildings include:

• Revolutionary History Memorial Hall: Exhibiting over 60 documents, revolutionary relics, including manuscripts, military uniforms, and replicas of weapons;
• Martyrs' Monument: 7.2 meters tall, inscribed with the words "Eternal Vigor," and engraved with the names of 387 martyrs;
• Red Cultural Corridor: Displaying key battle scenes such as the "March Uprising" and "Armed Uprising" through bas-reliefs;
• Thematic Sculpture Group: Works like "The Spark Igniting a Great Fire" and "Iron Blood Journey," symbolizing the continuous transmission of the spirit of revolution.

📜 Cultural and Historical Value

The garden houses 3 original precious archives, 12 revolutionary letters, among which Li Jianyao's letter to his wife is listed as a provincial intangible cultural heritage. The memorial garden was listed as a Yunnan Province patriotic education base in 2018 and selected into the "Red Tourism Classic Scenic Area List" in 2021, serving as an important base for the study and practice of Party history education in southern Yunnan.
