Description

Since the 1970s with the Beatles and Lonely Planet's Tony Wheeler, to the legendary climbers, writers, and explorers of the 1980s and 1990s, and now to esteemed politicians, presidents, and world-renowned artists, Kathmandu Guest House (KGH) has been the home away from home for travelers since 1968. From the classic heritage building constructed in 1902 to the modern guestrooms added in the new annex, KGH leads in restoration and upgrades each year. Located in the heart of Thamel, KGH is a landmark as it is the pioneer of the Thamel tourist center. The KGH garden features a stunning 15,000 square feet of lush space, filled with mango trees, pomelo, vibrant bougainvillea, and meticulously planned art pieces. Here, you can enjoy moments of solitude, share laughter with friends, or savor ice-cold drinks or steaming Himalayan coffee in the sun. With the opening of the Nepal Art Museum (MoNA) and the Kathmandu Art Gallery, KGH has become one of the few hotels in the world to boast a high-level museum collection. MoNA is dedicated to showcasing the works of living Nepali artists, covering visual arts from traditional to modern. The Kathmandu Art Gallery offers an engaging open-studio experience, allowing guests to interact with artists in the midst of their work, participate in their creative process, and purchase original artworks on the spot. KGH offers an immersive experience, meticulously presenting authentic Nepali, Chinese, Indian, and European cuisine, and may provide high-quality Himalayan coffee. Guests can also experience the art of Nepali tea at the flagship store of the Nepal Tea Collective. The rooftop lounge on the seventh floor is the perfect spot to watch the Himalayan sunset and the Swyambhunath Stupa. The hotel boasts 115 rooms of various prices, though their sizes and views may differ, our hospitality remains unwavering. As one of the first hotels to operate in Nepal, we take pride in our values and serve all guests with warmth.
