The Zhangqiu Diaozhen Stone Mill Cultural Museum is rooted in a thousand years of agrarian civilization, focusing on traditional stone mill craftsmanship to systematically present the developmental trajectory of stone mills across northern China. Since ancient times, Diaozhen has served as a key passage between Qi and Lu. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, its abundant water resources and local stone materials made it a major center for stone mill production, a tradition that remains intact today. The museum was originally established as the "Dexing Mill," later restored through collective efforts by local artisans. It officially opened in 2018 as a public cultural institution.

🏗️ Architectural Style
Built according to the natural topography, the museum adopts the traditional style of Qing-style brick-and-tile dwellings from central Shandong, incorporating the layout of Ming-Qing courtyard complexes. Spanning approximately 600 square meters, the main structure features a three-aisle siheyuan (courtyard) design. The entrance gate bears the inscription “Grinding Path: Passing the Torch,” while intricate wood carvings adorn the eaves. A century-old locust tree stands within the courtyard, bearing silent witness to over a hundred years of history. Inside, the museum includes exhibition halls for stone mills, an intangible cultural heritage workshop, an interactive experience zone, and a research library. The overall layout balances openness and intimacy, reflecting the ancient Chinese philosophy of harmony between humanity and nature.

• Ming Dynasty Stone Mill Set: A fully preserved water-powered stone mill from the Ming period, composed of granite grinding stones and teakwood rollers, inscribed with “Made in the 37th Year of Jiajing, Crafted by the Li Family.”
• Qing Dynasty Mill Workshop Tool Chest: Contains over 30 tools including iron grinding teeth, adjustment wedges, and mill rods, showcasing the precision of traditional craftsmanship.
• Hand-painted “Mill Worker Manual”: A detailed diagram of mill operations drawn by a late Qing artisan, designated as a municipal-level intangible cultural heritage physical archive.
• Modern Innovative Mill Design: A double-layered grinding system developed in the 1970s, symbolizing the transition toward agricultural mechanization.
